Torsten was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1985. He speaks fluent Finnish, Swedish, and English. His path to becoming an artist was far from conventional. In fact he was working on his PhD in Mathematics at the Aalto University in Finland when he picked up drawing and decided to focus all of his time on art. The source of inspiration for him picking up a pencil came from his girlfriend Kätlin (now wife) who introduced him to drawing.

After having to quit competitive sports due to numerous injuries, drawing sparked the feeling of being passionate about something again. To this day Torsten holds the same kind of passion for art as he did when he started. He feels the best part of being a tattoo artist is that he can do what he absolutely loves for a living.

Torsten wants to improve constantly as a tattoo artist. To achieve that Torsten believes that he has to step out of his comfort zone at times to push himself in a new direction. This involves traveling, working in a new environment from time to time, meeting new artists, discussing techniques and ideas and sharing information with colleagues.

He is convinced that the minute he stops pushing himself to be better, or thinks he is good enough, he should stop and find something better to do. In Torsten’s own words: “If you lack the passion to become better you will lose the love for what you are doing and that means it is time to hang it up, because you’ve reached your ceiling.”.
